Energy conserved is enegry produced.
We were walking out of a meeting late evening at my office. All of us walked off with our own thoughts about the meeting. There was one person who consciously made an attempt to switch off the lights, the projector and also shutdown the PC /Monitor in the conferance room. This happened long time back and I thanked him for his small action and made it a point to follow his action in all my meetings. Swith off unused devices. By switching off , we save energy.
I have been using car-pool for quite some years now for commuting to my office ( which is 23 kms from my home ). It eases the daily stress of driving, as we share the cars in round robin. It also gives an oppurtunity to share time and thoughts with like minded people. It also saves all four of us some money ( esp considering the ever increasing petrol prices ). Apart from all thes , it is three less cars in the ever-crowded Bangalore streets. Less consumption of fuel , means more balance for our next generation.
We can start using the public transportation. Apart from saving fuel costs , it also helps me to use that time to either hear some audio tapes on my mp3 player or think out new thoughts. Of course , whenever it is essential , we can use our private vehicles.
Not only at office , even in public places , we can make a differance. We can close running taps at public places. I have seen lots of public borewells taps running even though the bucket is completely filled. Many a times, i have closed the tap and also waited to speak to the owner of the bucket.
Water saved today is an asset we leave to our next generation.
Coming to homes , there are many small actions we can take to save energy. One good example is the solar water heater and solar lights. They are amazing inventions. Using solar water heaters brings down electricity expenses. This can be used throuhout the year (except for some days in winter ). Water conservation by rain water harvesting is another good idea. Also , after wathching TV , we should physically switch it off instead of keeping that in standby mode. Our monitors consume enormous power for the display, so swtiching them off is a good idea.
Energy is a consumable item. We are approaching the limits of usage. We should leave some of the stuff for our children to enjoy too.
