Superb evening at Ashram

April 18,2009. It was a bright saturday afternoon that we decided to go to the AOL ashram. A phone call to AOL confirmed that Guruji would indeed be physically present at the satsang that evening. We set out on our way. There were couple of DVDs that i had promised as a birthday gift that we bought at the Divine Store. The Satsang was arranged in the amphitheatre in front of the VM. As Guruji walked in , the usual crowd of devotees thronged the steps near the stage. Bhajans were on full swing, guess it was Srinivasji leading the group. Some time later Guruji opened the QA sessions. There were many questions from devotees. I have tried to capture some of the gyaan which came from the Master. This is my first attempt at this, more like a reminder to me about the knowledge.
Q: Can we take a sankalpa to change somebody elses behaviour ?
Guruji: Yes, do it. Take it up. But ensure that its not for your motive. You should take the sankalpa with intention that the change in behaviour is for the good of that individual, not for your good.
Q: My father is an astrologer and whatever he has predicted has become true. He has predicted that i would be mentally ill after few years. Am worried.
Guruji: Please remind your father that every problem has a remedy in astrology. Ask him what is the upaya for this problem. When you do sadhana , meditation , seva and satsang , that will take care of you. That is the upaya. Chant "Om Namah Shivaya". This mantra has the power to solve any problem.
Q: After doing SudarshanKriya, i used to feel a "high" earier. But when i do the kriya regularly, this feeling is not there. If a stop for some days in between and then do the kriya , i feel the "high" again.
Guruji : It seems you have lots of free time. Involve in Seva and continue the sadhana.

summer vacations round the corner ..

Summer vacations round the corner and Gautham can hardly wait for his exams to get over.In the midst of the exam days , there was a Parents meeting yesterday. We went to meet the head mistress and submit the admission forms. (met Darshans father , Mr Umesh). We were discussing on whats the best thing for kids to do during the summer time. Looks like there are couple of options we are considering - Cricket camp , Arts camp , Swimming classes. On the mention of the word cricket camp yesterday, Gauthams face lighted up like a thousand watt bulb. Looking at his enthusiasm yesterday night , me thinks its cricket this summer.

Gauthams "rangapravesha"

On Jan4th,2009, Gautham played his first keyboard performance for an audience of around 50 people. The venue was a new year party organised by children attending tuitions at relatives house in Vijayanagar. The party was great and the 6 songs Gautham played on the keyboard was appreciated by one and all. Will try to post the pics some time.

Udupi, Shringeri and Marwanthe

Dec 25th,2008
At 10:30 PM , boarded the sleeper bus at Navrang without a clue of the about-to-come Movers-n-Shakers experience enroute the ride to Mangalore.

Dec 26th:
Around 11 AM, reached ( atlast !! ) Udupi. Within few minutes was able to locate SriRam Residency and checked in. The rooms are quite comfortable and the advance booking we had made for the AC rooms came as a blessing considering the afternoon heat and humidity at Udupi.I didnt expect that it would be so hot in December end. Post lunch, all of us ventured out in the hot afternoon to have a Darshan of Lord Krishna at the famous Krishna temple. As things turned out , there was a long queue and couldnt muster the courage to withstand another couple of hours in the sun ( the night travel had drained me out ).All I needed was an hours rest. Maybe the afternoon rest was the turning-point as after that , all went well. At around 4PM , went to Malpe beach and had a wonderful time there. Was lucky to watch the sunset with family. At around 7:30PM, we were back at the temple. By then , there was not much of a crowd and we managed to have an excellent darshan of Lord Krishna.
Also fortunate to see the seer perform the tottalu-seve with singing of songs. This was a very good experience for all of us.
One good thing we did was to book a taxi for the next days visit.

Dec 27th :

At 9AM, started towards Shringeri. The drive from Udupi to Shringeri is via Agumbe. This is a very picturesque place. At Shringeri , Sharadamba temple is by the river side and is a fantastic place. We were again lucky to be at there at lunch time as the food serverd at the the temple is very delicious. The drive from Shringeri to Marwanthe is via many small towns and we reach Kundapur back on the National Highway leading to Goa.Marwanthe is very near to Kundapur. Marwanthe beach is awesome as its a long stretch of fine sand on one side of the highway. On the other side , there is a river and lush green vegetation. Marwanthe beach is very clean and is not yet commercialsed to a large extent.

Hope it stays that way for a long time.

visit to Madhumalai

It was a long pending break which we looked forward to from many days. Just one day before , it looked as if we need to cancel it , but finally we made it and then , Did we enjoy it ? I would definitely say a overwhelming "YES , We surely enjoyed it !"
Located at around 90 kms away from Mysore , Madhumalai is a very enchanting place similar to many other forests in the Nilgiris range. You can get loads of info if you google it , so will skip all that stuff in my blog.
We started out from Maruti Mandir at around 8 AM on Oct 18th and reached the Monarch Safari Resort at around 3:30 PM. En route we enjoyed in the bus with Gautham also joining in singing songs and playing games. The evening was spent in relaxing and visiting the Elephant Camp and Night Safari. The safari proved to be quite a disappointment as it was pitch dark and nothing much to see apart from some wild bison's. A morning safari would have been good. Nevertheless , the sight of the elephants ( see pic ) was awesome.

The next day morning trek in the wilderness was simply superb. It was a total green stretch of around 8 kms leading a small enchanting stream of water over few rocks. Water is clean and tempting to wet your feet before return back to the Monarch Safari.
